New Charities £1M Idea

A mother whose daughter died at the age of just 17 of malignant melanoma has a vision to set up a respite hotel in Eastbourne for families of children with life limiting illnesses. Jeanette Atkinson, Mayor Cllr Mary Pooley and Daphne Greenall. The Rachel's House charity was set up by Jeanette Atkinson after her daughter lost a four year battle against skin cancer.

Eastbourne Mayor Mary Pooley said, "It is always sad when someone loses a loved one but it is even harder when that loss is at a young age.

"I have every admiration for what this family are trying to do and I hope they succeed in their ambition."

The vision is for Rachel's House to offer a gold standard in holiday respite care for families to have some special time together.

The family are looking to raise £1 million to purchase and convert an Eastbourne Victorian property.
